Dearest Jean, I write this with tears in my eyes. Though we only became friends through our service to UNISON on the RSG a few years ago, it was a friendship I valued more than you could ever know. We had so much in common and I only wish I had known you for much longer. It was lovely to exchange stories of our children and grandchildren. I respected and admired you for your absolute dedication and commitment to social justice via the trade union. No one could ever doubt whose side you were on. You were there on every picket line, rally or demo where workers were in dispute particularly those in the NHS. But it is your humour, kindness and beautiful smile which I will miss most Rest in peace Jean Bernie Gallagher
